California Hollywood Rental Vacation

Question: Parking ticket in Hollywood, California… need help from a local.?

Recently while on vacation I got a parking ticket near the Kodak Theater. How strict are they out there with parking tickets? Would they go through the trouble of tracking me down through the rental car agency? Thanks for your help.

Answer: Can’t speak for the Hollywood area, but I can speak for Santa Barbara County (worked for one of the largest law firms there from 1993 to 1997) and the city of Santa Barbara was very diligent in tracking down violators. You’re really better off paying the ticket if you can’t appear and explain yourself. If you let that ticket go and Los Angeles County pursues it, that could mean additional late fees for you, liens against your property if you don’t pay, and an increase in your car insurance — those companies take a dim view of people who don’t pay tickets and don’t report them…
