Stages of water supply and water filtration systems at the Long Beach aquarium
Water supply is delivered in trucks and barges to the Long Beach aquarium. Water then enters the extended water treatment reservoir at the Long Beach aquarium. After the water treatment, water is then pumped to the Undergravel or plenum which is the start of the Long Beach aquarium habitat. From the Undergravel / plenum, water is then pumped through a sand filtration system. After sand filtration, some water passes through heat exchanger and ozone generator while other goes straight to the degas chamber. From the degas chamber, water reenters the undergravel and plenum.
